Frac Water Treatment

With natural gas exploration expanding into more environmentally sensitive locations, producers rely on J&T Technologies, Inc., technology and expert laboratory support and their strategic partners for responsible and effective frac water treatment that can result in 100% reuse.

FLOW CHART: 7 Steps To 100% Frac Water Reuse (PDF)

Reuse is a practical and cost-effective alternative to processes that risk contaminating surface water with bromides and other potentially harmful constituents.

FLOW CHART: Frac Water Treatment Design (PDF)

Optimized water treatment designs are based on fast, accurate and comprehensive analyses that identify water quality, FR loop performance, scaling potential, microbiological reporting and compatibility with geological formations.

The result is a frac water strategy that reduces the amount of fresh water withdrawn from natural sources, ensures compliance with evolving state and federal regulations, and demonstrates to the public that low-impact fracturing is possible.

Geochemical Modeling

Fluid design and sequential flowback data are evaluated with sophisticated software to create 3-D imaging and assessments specific to down-hole applications.

Microbiological Evaluations

Testing is performed to provide a rapid analysis of microbiological concentrations in water samples, including extensive analysis for sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB), acid-producing bacteria (APB) and total aerobic bacteria counts.

Conventional Treatment System

Conventional Precipitation Solids Separation is useful for separating metal pollutants and solids. In this gravity based process the solids are separated out by precipitation with flow rates up to 1,000 gallons per minute. The solids are typically dewatered in a filter press.

Microfiltration

jttech-2Our membrane based systems provide an effective solution to wastewater treatment problems. Our units meet current as well as proposed new regulations. Some common applications of this technology include plating rinse water, spent coolants, industrial wastewater, groundwater and frac flow-back. Crossflow microfiltration systems maintain very high flow rates with minimal downtime for maintenance. They are also very easy to operate versus alternative technologies. As a result, crossflow systems have become the option of choice for end-of-pipe water recycle and for high-capacity wastewater treatment in manufacturing.

Because our crossflow microfiltration membranes do not pass solids, they are the gold standard. Compliance is far easier to assure with our modules, at far less cost, and with far fewer interruptions of the manufacturing process. Larger diameter modules hold more tubes and contain more membrane surface area for higher flow rates. Each module is 72 inches long and is made from the highest strength materials available. Each membrane tube is individually tested for strength, integrity, and flux before assembly into the modules. All membranes are true "surface rejecting" membranes, which means they allow no solids to pass and require less frequent cleaning.

Nano and RO Filtration

RONano and RO membrane filtration are used to separate molecules 10 to 1,000 times smaller than those typically removed by more conventional methods. We generally use these technologies when reuse is a priority. Recovery is typically 50 to 75%.

Ion Exchange

Ion exchange is used for the recovery of metals found in wastewater. By removing the dissolved ions the water becomes re-usable.

IXFilter Presses

Filter presses with conventional or membrane filter plates. Our presses are custom designed to meet you specialized filtration needs, or to upgrade an existing filtration system.

Purification Technologies

GCON-1J&T Technologies designs and supports many types of purifed water treatment equipment. We partner up with some of the most innovative firms and work on various high profile pure water and ultrapure water projects. Purified water is water from any source that is physically processed to remove impurities. Distilled water and deionized (DI) water have been the most common forms of purified water, but water can also be purified by other processes including reverse osmosis, carbon filtration, microfiltration, ultrafiltration, ultraviolet oxidation, or electro-deioniziation. In recent decades, a combination of the above processes have come into use to produce water of such high purity that its trace contaminants are measured in parts per billion (ppb) or parts per trillion (ppt). Purified water has many uses, largely in science and engineering laboratories and industries, and is produced in a range of purities.
